2025 NFL Minicamp Highlights: Rookie QBs Shine and Key Players Return

Get the latest updates from the 2025 NFL minicamps, featuring standout performances by rookie QBs and key player returns.

The 2025 NFL mandatory minicamps are in full swing this week, with teams across the league showcasing their talent and preparing for the upcoming season. Here are the key highlights and updates from the minicamps:

Cleveland Browns: Rookie QBs Impress

Rookie quarterbacks Dillon Gabriel and Shedeur Sanders are making waves in the Browns' offense. Sanders delivered a deep touchdown pass during team drills, while Gabriel showcased his precision with a high-arching pass into the end zone for a score. Coach Kevin Stefanski praised their progress, noting the differences in NFL rules and their adaptability.

New Orleans Saints: Veterans Return

The Saints welcomed back key veterans who missed the voluntary portion of the offseason. Tyrann Mathieu, Alvin Kamara, J.T. Gray, and Nathan Shepherd all returned to practice. Mathieu, who recently signed a renegotiated contract, emphasized the importance of community and family in his decision to stay with the team.

Minnesota Vikings: Darrisaw’s Comeback

Left tackle Christian Darrisaw participated in position drills for the first time since tearing his ACL and MCL in October 2024. While he’s not yet cleared for team drills, his return is a positive sign for the Vikings. The team has been preparing for his absence by working with Justin Skule during 11-on-11 drills.

New York Jets: Full Attendance

The Jets had 100% attendance on the first day of minicamp, with standout players like Sauce Gardner and Garrett Wilson present. Coach Aaron Glenn highlighted the team’s commitment to competition and culture change. Wilson had an impressive day, making several sideline catches, including a toe-tap along the boundary.

Atlanta Falcons: Pitts’ Recovery

Tight end Kyle Pitts was in the building but did not practice due to an injury. Coach Raheem Morris expressed confidence in Pitts’ ability to gel with quarterback Michael Penix Jr. this season. Pitts, who has struggled with injuries and inconsistency, is entering a contract year with high expectations.

Jacksonville Jaguars: Lawrence’s Arm Soreness

Quarterback Trevor Lawrence participated fully in minicamp despite dealing with “general soreness” in his right arm. Coach Liam Coen assured that there’s no concern about an injury, attributing the soreness to maintenance rather than a serious issue.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Red Zone Defense

The Buccaneers’ red zone defense stood out, with Haason Reddick, Anthony Nelson, and rookie Elijah Roberts all notching would-be sacks. Safety Tykee Smith also made a key play by stripping the ball from Jalen McMillan in the end zone to prevent a touchdown.

Stay tuned for more updates as the NFL minicamps continue, shaping the landscape for the 2025 season.
