Jade Shekells, a prominent figure in the GB Sevens rugby team, is poised to make her XV-a-side international debut this Sunday. Named on the bench for England's Women's Six Nations opener against Italy, Shekells could bring her sevens expertise to the traditional format. The match is set to take place at the LNER Community Stadium in York, with kick-off at 15:00 GMT.

Shekells, 28, is one of four uncapped players in head coach John Mitchell's 37-woman squad. Also among the replacements is Exeter Chiefs scrum-half Flo Robinson, 23. Shekells' inclusion follows her participation in the GB squad at the Paris 2024 Olympics, where she showcased her skills on the global stage. If brought on, she is expected to play in the centres.

Mia Venner, fresh from helping Gloucester-Hartpury secure a third consecutive Premiership Women's Rugby title, earns her second cap on the wing. Similarly, Loughborough Lightning lock Lilli Ives Campion will make her first international start.
