Priyansh Arya had just been dismissed for a rapid 34-ball 70, following a blistering opening stand with Prabhsimran Singh, who scored 50 off 28 deliveries.

Two floodlight towers were inactive at the time the innings was postponed. ESPN Cricinfo reported that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) cited a "significant technical failure" as the reason for the match's cancellation. The BBC has reached out to the BCCI for further comments but has yet to receive a response.

Earlier on Thursday, the BCCI had already moved Sunday's match between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians from Dharamshala to Ahmedabad due to "logistical challenges." Dharamshala's proximity to the contested region of Kashmir, which has seen heightened tensions between India and Pakistan in recent days, adds another layer of complexity to the situation.
Impact on Pakistan Super League
Meanwhile, the Pakistan Super League (PSL) match between Peshawar Zalmi and Karachi Kings, scheduled for Rawalpindi, was also postponed. This decision followed reports from Pakistan's military about the destruction of Indian drones in various Pakistani cities. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is considering postponing the remainder of its season amid the ongoing tensions.
Future of the PSL
BBC Sport understands that the PSL is exploring all options, including halting the tournament for several weeks, moving it to a single city, or relocating it outside the country. The situation remains fluid, with the safety and security of players and fans being the top priority.
