Hearts Set to Approach Kilmarnock’s Derek McInnes for Managerial Role

Hearts are preparing to approach Kilmarnock for Derek McInnes as their new manager, following a season of managerial changes and on-pitch challenges.

Hearts to Make Official Approach for McInnes

Hearts are set to make an official approach to Kilmarnock on Monday, aiming to secure Derek McInnes as their new manager. This move comes after Neil Critchley's dismissal last month, which left the Tynecastle club in search of a new leader.

McInnes’ Stellar Record

Derek McInnes, who has been at the helm of Kilmarnock for three-and-a-half seasons, recently led his team to a 3-2 victory over Dundee, ensuring their safety in the Scottish Premiership with a third consecutive win. Despite the rumors linking him to Hearts, McInnes has stated that there has been "no contact from club to club."

Hearts’ Turbulent Season

Hearts have had a challenging season, marked by their worst-ever start to a campaign, which led to the sacking of Steven Naismith. Although Critchley managed to steer the club away from the bottom of the table, he failed to secure a top-six finish, resulting in his dismissal.

McInnes’ Managerial Journey

McInnes’ managerial career in Scotland began with St Johnstone, whom he guided to the top flight in 2009. After a brief stint at Bristol City, he spent seven successful years at Aberdeen, where the team consistently finished in the top four and won the League Cup in 2014. He took charge of Kilmarnock in January 2021, leading them to promotion back to the top flight and maintaining their position since.

Future Prospects

With Brighton owner Tony Bloom set to invest nearly £10m in Hearts, the club is looking to stabilize both on and off the pitch. McInnes’ experience and track record make him a strong candidate to lead Hearts into a new era.
