Mimi Rhodes Set to Shine at KPMG Women's PGA Championship After Stellar LET Debut

English golfer Mimi Rhodes is ready for her major debut at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship following an impressive start on the Ladies European Tour.

After a sensational start to her professional career, English golfer Mimi Rhodes is eagerly anticipating her major debut at the KPMG Women's PGA Championship in Frisco, Texas. The 23-year-old from Bath has already secured three victories in her debut season on the Ladies European Tour (LET), earning her a special invitation to this prestigious event.

Rhodes will compete alongside the world's best players, including American world number one Nelly Korda, on the Fields Ranch East course, marking the first time this championship is held in Texas. "I got here last Saturday and I'm just itching to get started," Rhodes shared with BBC Sport.

A Meteoric Rise

Rhodes turned professional after her pivotal role in the Great Britain and Ireland team's victory at last year's Curtis Cup at Sunningdale. Since then, she has clinched victories at the New South Wales Open, Joburg Ladies Open, and the recent Dutch Open. Reflecting on her rapid ascent, Rhodes admitted, "It's unbelievable how much I've achieved in such a short period of time. I'm just grateful for the process and grateful to be here."

Major Opportunity

Receiving a sponsor invitation to the KPMG Women's PGA Championship was a dream come true for Rhodes. "It was one of the best messages of my life," she said. She joins fellow Englishwomen Charley Hull, Georgia Hall, and Jodi Ewart Shadoff, as well as Scotland's Gemma Dryburgh, in the 156-player lineup. "I knew it'd be quite hard to get into the field, being a major," Rhodes noted. "But it showed me that I can be at the same level as other LPGA players."

Preparing for the Challenge

Rhodes has been preparing diligently for the championship, expressing her enthusiasm for the course. "I really like it. It's in really, really good condition. The greens are quite slopey, but quite big, and it's a long course," she said. "I like my long irons, so I've enjoyed the days I've been practising. I just have to have fun out there and hopefully the putts drop."

Looking Ahead

As Rhodes gears up for her major debut, she remains focused on making the most of this incredible opportunity. With her remarkable talent and determination, she is poised to make a significant impact on the global stage of women's golf.
