Cornwall's Harry Hall is poised to make his first appearance at The Open Championship, following a stellar performance at the qualifying tournament at Burnham and Berrow. The 27-year-old PGA Tour player secured his spot by finishing second, just one shot off the lead with an impressive eight-under-par score.

Hall's Recent Form

Hall has been in excellent form this year, with four top-10 finishes and making the cut in 16 of his 19 events. His recent success includes a strong start at Burnham and Berrow, where he shot two rounds of 67. "I played really nice. I started off strong in the morning, I shot six under on the front [nine holes] and thought it was going to be a breeze," Hall shared. Despite a mid-round slump, he maintained a positive attitude and finished strong, securing his place at Royal Portrush.

Support from Home

Born in Camborne, Hall turned professional in 2019 after a successful collegiate career at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas. The support from his home club, West Cornwall Golf Club, has been invaluable. "The amount of support I had on Tuesday from West Cornwall members and a lot of the South West, just coming up to watch me on Tuesday was awesome," Hall said. He estimates that around 400 people were present to cheer him on during the qualifiers.

Looking Ahead

Hall is optimistic about his upcoming performances, both at the Scottish Open and The Open Championship. "I feel really good right now. I'm hitting the ball where I want to and I'm doing all the right things," he stated. With his current form and the backing of his supporters, Hall is ready to take on the challenges of the prestigious tournament.

The Open Championship will be held at Royal Portrush in Northern Ireland from 17-20 July. Hall's journey from Cornwall to the global stage is a testament to his dedication and skill in the sport of golf.
