Gary Woodland, a celebrated figure in the world of golf, has been appointed as the fifth and final vice-captain for the US Ryder Cup team. Two years after undergoing brain surgery to remove a tumor, Woodland has not only returned to the sport but has also been recognized with the 2025 PGA Tour Courage Award.

Woodland will serve in a non-playing role under the captaincy of Keegan Bradley, who himself is on the verge of becoming the first playing captain since Arnold Palmer in 1963. The 45th Ryder Cup is set to take place at the Bethpage Black course in New York from September 25 to 28, 2025.
