Tottenham Hotspur has officially announced the signing of Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United for a transfer fee of £55 million. The Ghanaian midfielder, who had a release clause of £85 million, has committed to a six-year contract with Spurs, extending until 2031. This move comes after West Ham rejected an initial offer of £50 million from Tottenham last week.

Kudus, aged 24, has been a standout performer for West Ham, making 65 Premier League appearances, scoring 13 goals, and providing nine assists. His contributions have been pivotal in West Ham's recent campaigns, including their Europa League group stage successes.

In an interview with the club's social media, Kudus expressed his excitement about joining Tottenham: "I have always wanted to play at the highest level. The size of the club, its history, and the opportunity to play in the Champions League made this move irresistible. I am thrilled and eager to start this new chapter."

Kudus's arrival could be followed by another significant signing, as Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White is scheduled for a medical at Spurs on Friday, with a £60 million transfer in the works.

Since joining West Ham from Ajax in August 2023 for £38 million, Kudus has been a key player. He made his Premier League debut as a substitute in a victory over Luton Town and quickly made his mark by scoring crucial goals in the Europa League. In his debut season, he netted 14 goals and provided nine assists.

Sources close to BBC Sport revealed that Kudus prioritized a move to north London despite interest from at least six top clubs. He highlighted the influence of head coach Thomas Frank, who recently took over from Ange Postecoglou, as a major factor in his decision to join Tottenham. "Seeing the talent Thomas Frank has developed into great players was a significant reason I wanted to work under him," Kudus stated.
