Claressa Shields Dominates Lani Daniels to Retain Undisputed Heavyweight Title
Claressa Shields continues her reign as the undisputed heavyweight champion with a commanding victory over Lani Daniels in Detroit.

Claressa Shields showcased her unparalleled skill and dominance in the ring as she retained her undisputed heavyweight title with a unanimous decision win against Lani Daniels. The fight, held at the Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, Michigan, drew a crowd of 15,000 eager fans.
Shields, a two-time Olympic gold medalist and five-weight world champion, controlled the bout from the outset. Daniels, hailing from New Zealand, struggled to find her rhythm, staying defensive and evading Shields' aggressive advances. As the rounds progressed, Shields' precision and power became evident, particularly with her body shots that began to wear Daniels down.
In the seventh round, Shields landed a series of clean punches that snapped Daniels' head back, signaling her fading movement. Although Daniels showed a bit more aggression in the later rounds, exchanging punches with Shields in the eighth, it was clear that Shields was the superior fighter. The judges scored the fight 100-90, 99-91, and 99-91, all in favor of Shields, improving her professional record to an impressive 17-0.
Post-fight, Shields expressed her thoughts on Daniels' performance: "I thought she wanted to fight, but she didn't really engage until the last three rounds. She was very tough and tricky toward the end, but I know I won every round."
With limited competition in the heavyweight division, Shields is considering moving back down in weight to pursue more challenging and high-profile fights. Speculations are rife about a potential bout with Laila Ali, the daughter of boxing legend Muhammad Ali, though Ali has been retired since 2007. Promoter Dmitry Salita has confirmed that an offer is on the table, but it remains to be seen if Ali will return to the ring.
Shields remains open to all possibilities, stating, "Anybody can get it. I want to make the biggest fights and the best fights." Her next opponent could also be WBA and WBC super-middleweight champion Franchon Crews-Dezurn, whom Shields defeated back in 2016.
As the boxing world awaits Shields' next move, her legacy as one of the greatest female boxers of all time continues to grow.
