Trailfinders Women have made a significant addition to their roster by signing New Zealand international Georgia Ponsonby for the 2025-26 Premiership Women's Rugby season. Ponsonby, a hooker with 31 caps for the Black Ferns, was instrumental in New Zealand's 2022 Rugby World Cup victory.

Ponsonby joins her New Zealand teammate Alana Borland, who was confirmed as a Trailfinders player in June. This reunion is expected to bring a dynamic synergy to the team. Barney Maddison, head coach of Trailfinders, praised Ponsonby as a "world-class" player.

"She's a proven high performer whose experience with the Black Ferns will add some real value to the group," Maddison said. "Georgia also has a fantastic connection with Alana [Borland], and I'm excited to see that relationship brought over here to Trailfinders."

Ponsonby is part of a wave of international talent joining Trailfinders for the upcoming season. The team has also secured Scotland captain Rachel Malcolm, second-row Emma Wassell, wing Francesca McGhie, England vice-captain Megan Jones, and Canada international Claire Gallagher.
