Filip Nowacki Dominates World Juniors 100m Breaststroke with Record-Breaking Performance
Filip Nowacki secures a spot in the World Juniors 100m breaststroke final with a record-breaking performance, showcasing his potential as one of Jersey's greatest athletes.

Filip Nowacki has once again proven his mettle in the swimming world by storming into the final of the 100m breaststroke at the World Junior Championships in Otopeni, Romania. The 17-year-old Jersey swimmer not only secured his place but did so as the fastest qualifier, clocking an impressive 59.24 seconds in the opening semi-final.
Nowacki's performance was nothing short of spectacular, finishing ahead of Evangelos Ephraim Ntoumas of Greece (59.77) and fellow Briton Max Morgan (59.93). The only other swimmer to break the one-minute mark was Shin Ohashi of Japan, who won the second semi-final in 59.72 seconds.
This achievement is part of Nowacki's ambitious campaign at the six-day championships, where he is also competing in the 200m breaststroke and 50m breaststroke events. Earlier in the day, he won the last of nine heats in 59.84 seconds, further cementing his status as a top contender.
Nowacki's success at the World Juniors follows his dominant performance at the European Junior Championships in Slovakia, where he clinched gold in both the 100m and 200m breaststroke events and a silver in the 50m breaststroke. His remarkable achievements include setting a new European junior record in the 200m breaststroke and breaking the British junior record in the 100m breaststroke, previously held by Olympic gold medallist Adam Peaty.
As the 100m breaststroke final approaches on Wednesday evening, all eyes will be on Nowacki, who is considered one of Jersey's most promising sports stars. His journey is a testament to his dedication, talent, and the potential to become one of the greatest swimmers in Jersey's history.
