Wolves Secure Star Striker Tolu Arokodare in a £24m Deal to Bolster Attack

Wolverhampton Wanderers have signed Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare from Genk for £24m, aiming to strengthen their attack in the Premier League.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have officially completed the signing of Nigerian striker Tolu Arokodare from Belgian club Genk for a reported fee of £24 million. The 6ft 6in forward has signed a four-year contract with the club, marking a significant move to bolster Wolves' attacking options as they seek to climb the Premier League table.

Arokodare's Impressive Track Record

Arokodare, 24, comes with an impressive resume, having won the Golden Boot in the Belgian Pro League last season with 21 goals. His prolific scoring ability has made him one of the most sought-after strikers in European football. Before joining Genk in 2023, he played for Latvian side Valmiera, where he scored 22 goals in 34 games, showcasing his consistent goal-scoring prowess.

Wolves' Struggles and Arokodare's Role

Wolves have had a challenging start to the Premier League season, losing their opening three games and currently sitting at the bottom of the table. The addition of Arokodare is expected to provide much-needed support in attack, complementing Norwegian forward Jorgen Strand Larsen. Arokodare's physical presence and goal-scoring ability could be the key to turning Wolves' fortunes around.

Transfer Saga and Rejected Bids

Interestingly, Arokodare was also a target for Newcastle United, but Wolves stood firm, rejecting bids of £50m and £55m for Larsen last week. This move highlights Wolves' commitment to strengthening their squad despite their current struggles.

International Experience

On the international stage, Arokodare has represented Nigeria, scoring one goal in four appearances. His experience at both club and international levels makes him a valuable asset for Wolves as they look to navigate a tough Premier League season.

Previous Loan Spells

Before his permanent move to Genk, Arokodare had loan spells with FC Koln in the Bundesliga and Amiens in France, where he scored a combined 21 goals over two years. This experience in top European leagues has prepared him for the challenges of the Premier League.

Looking Ahead

With Arokodare now part of the squad, Wolves fans will be hoping for an immediate impact as the team aims to secure their first points of the season. His arrival could be the catalyst for a much-needed turnaround in form.
