Karsten Warholm has once again proven his dominance in the world of athletics by setting the first-ever world record in the 300m hurdles at the Diamond League season opener in Xiamen, China. The Norwegian athlete, who already holds the world record in the 400m hurdles, clocked an impressive 33.05 seconds, surpassing the previous world best of 33.26 set in 2021.

Warholm's victory was not just a personal triumph but also a historic moment for the sport, as the 300m hurdles was officially recognized as an event with its own world record by World Athletics just a month prior. The event saw fierce competition, with Brazil's Matheus Lima finishing second in 33.98 and Japan's Ken Toyoda taking third in 34.22.

In other events, Akani Simbine of South Africa won the men's 100m with a time of 9.99, followed by Kenya's Ferdinand Omanyala in 10.13 and Great Britain's Jeremiah Azu in 10.17. Armand Duplantis of Sweden continued his pole vault dominance, clearing 5.92m, although he fell short of his world record of 6.27m.

Faith Kipyegon, the world and Olympic champion, led the women's 1,000m with a world-leading time of 2:29.15, just outside her personal best. The women's 200m was won by Anavia Battle of the USA in 22.41, while Yaroslava Mahuchikh of Ukraine took the women's high jump with a leap of 1.97m.
