Scottish FA Prohibits Transgender Women from Women's Football Matches

The Scottish FA updates its gender policy to ban trans women from competitive women's football.

From the next season, only those born biologically female will be permitted to participate in competitive matches in women's football. The current policy had allowed transgender women to compete on a case-by-case basis, considering testosterone levels. However, the new policy will apply to all competitive football in Scotland, including grassroots games from under-13s and above. The final decision was influenced by the recent Supreme Court ruling that defines a woman based on biological sex. This rule change aligns football with other sports like rugby, swimming, and athletics.
