Canadian electronics mogul Mario Lapointe has officially taken over Dumbarton FC, marking a significant turning point for the historic Scottish football club. After a challenging season that saw Dumbarton relegated from Scottish League One due to a 15-point deduction for entering administration, the club's future was uncertain until Lapointe's intervention.

A New Chapter for Dumbarton FC The transition was facilitated by administrators Quantuma, who announced the formation of a new entity, Dumbarton Football Club 1872 Ltd, wholly owned by Lapointe. This move ensures the club's survival and participation in Scottish League Two for the upcoming season. The Scottish Professional Football League has already sanctioned the takeover, with the Scottish FA's approval expected imminently.

Fan and Community Engagement Lapointe, who also serves as the co-owner and technical director of SMT-ASSY, a Quebec-based electronics contract manufacturer, has expressed his commitment to revitalizing the club. "The support from the fans has been overwhelming," Lapointe remarked. He plans to engage directly with the community through a series of 'Meet Mario' events scheduled for June 25, providing supporters and sponsors a chance to interact with the new owner.
