Michael Dunlop Secures 31st Isle of Man TT Victory in Dominant Supertwin Race

Michael Dunlop extends his record with a 31st victory at the Isle of Man TT, dominating the Supertwin race with a commanding performance.

Michael Dunlop continued his legendary run at the Isle of Man TT by clinching his 31st victory in the Supertwin race on Tuesday. The 36-year-old Northern Irish rider, who also triumphed in the Supersport opener on Monday, showcased his dominance with a commanding win by 22.673 seconds over Manx rider Michael Evans and Rob Hodson, both of whom secured their first TT podiums.

The Supertwin race, much like the Superstock TT won by Honda's Dean Harrison, was reduced to two laps and rescheduled to the evening due to persistent rain throughout the day. Dunlop, riding a Paton, led from the first sector at Glen Helen and never looked back. He maintained a steady pace, eventually cruising to victory with a significant lead.

"The bike worked perfectly, and on the second lap, I saw I was up by 10 seconds, so I started to calm myself a bit," Dunlop told TT Plus. "These bikes require a lot of maintenance, and the engines endure a lot of stress, so kudos to the Paton team. It's great to secure another win for them."

This victory marked Dunlop's 48th solo podium at the TT, meaning he has been on the rostrum for 52% of all races he has entered in this grueling event, which spans 37.7 miles of closed public roads.

"The main goal is to win TTs, and entering the 30s bracket is a significant achievement," Dunlop added. "Winning two races early in the week is fantastic, but we need to keep pushing. Let's see what we're made of."

Michael Evans, celebrating his 32nd birthday, finished second, marking his first TT podium. "I can't believe it," an emotional Evans said. "I've dreamed about this for so long. It's the best birthday I've ever had."

Rob Hodson rounded out the podium in third, edging out Paul Jordan by 1.757 seconds in a tight battle. Davey Todd, Dominic Herbertson, and Stefano Bonetti completed the top six.

Supertwin TT Results:

  1. Michael Dunlop (Paton) - Two laps
  2. Michael Evans (Kawasaki) - +22.673 seconds
  3. Rob Hodson (Paton) - +13.465 seconds

  6. Dominic Herbertson (Paton) - +1.932 seconds
  7. Adam McLean (Yamaha) - +7.454 seconds
  8. Stefano Bonetti (Paton) - +6.393 seconds

Dunlop's victory further cements his legacy as one of the greatest riders in the history of the Isle of Man TT, a testament to his skill, determination, and consistency in one of the most challenging motorsport events in the world.
